Helloooo!! What a fun week this was!
On Friday, one of my besties Amanda, who is in Barcelona for the semester, came to visit for the weekend and it was so much fun! And contrary to my mother's belief, nobody ended up in jail!! yay! I brought her to my favorite places in Dublin! It was so good to see one of my girls from home, its been too long! And it's really fun to play tour guide!
Early Tuesday morning, we set off for our overnight school trip! We drove all the way across the ENTIRE country (3 hours). Our first stop was the Cliffs of Moher! You guys. UNREAL. We were only there for a little bit over an hour but I could have spent all day exploring! We were so extremely lucky because it was so sunny and very minimal wind, which is very uncommon there!
Then we drove about an hour to Galway! Again, we had about an hour to explore around the city. Which was definitely not long enough! It is a very cute little town right on the water!!
From there we got on the ferry to the Aran Islands! We went to the biggest of the three, called Inis Mór. This place was insane! The population of the island is about 800 (I was surprised to learn the number was this high!). There is 3 restaurants, 2 schools, 1 store, 2 B&Bs, and a hostel, which is where we stayed. That night we went to the only pub for a group dinner. There was live music and it was really cool to talk with some of the locals!
The next morning a tour guide drove a handful of us around the island, showing us all the secret spots and giving us some insight on the history. There is cows, horses, and donkeys roaming around EVERYWHERE! I seriously didn't know places like this existed, I could talk about it literally FOREVER!!!!!!!! It did not seem real.
Then, we were sent to hike up to Dún Aonghasa (no, idk how you say it) which is a prehistoric stone fort. If I am going to be honest, when they told us we had to walk straight up hill to see a "fort" I was like "uhhh yeah no", but it was legit the most insane thing I have ever seen in my entire life. Honestly, I liked it better than the Cliffs of Moher! It is a 350 foot cliff with a straight-down drop off. I stayed farrrr away from the edge if anyone was curious!
Two things: #1 I cannot explain to you in English words how insane this place was. CANNOT EXPLAIN OK?!?! #2 The pictures are super cool but only about half as cool as the real thing. So you guys all gotta go there sometime, okay?
Then we went back down, ate dinner, took the ferry back to Galway, and the bus back home to Dublin! So much happened in two days!!
Okay! Have to get my life together now and get ready to go to Greece in two days!! #whatismylife
PEACE! <3
