I made it to Ireland! My 16 hour travel day went well (or as good as a 16 hour travel day can go). I learned two things on my way here. 1. The Philadelphia airport is gross and I do not wish to go back. 2. Gluten free airplane food is about as good as it sounds!
My first day in Dublin was a sleepy one. We got to explore a little around Dublin and meet the rest of the students in the program! I have 3 roommates and we all get along really well! My apartment is soooo nice and in a newer, modern neighborhood.
The next day, we had orientation for school followed by a 4 hour bus tour around the city center and up the coast a short way to the cutest little fishing village called Howth. The bus then dropped us off at the oldest pub in Ireland, The Brazen Head, where we had dinner with everyone in the program! That night we explored a few more Irish pubs and stayed up a little too late.....
The next few days we all slept for most of the day (we'll blame it on the jet lag haha). We did manage to find a few cafés and a grocery store we really like, less than a block from our apartment!
Monday was my first day of school! After my hour walk to and from school (about 5 miles total ugh), two of my roommates and I walked to lunch and to Penney's to get a few things. Little did we know.... that store is SPECTACULAR lol!!
On Tuesdays I don't have classes so I got to sleep in a little bit and then I walked down to Grafton Street and to a park called St. Stephen's Green, which are both beautiful! Then we participated in some happy hour drinks and appetizers!
Today, I had two more classes. One of which involves a lot of walking around the city and exploring neighborhoods that I probably wouldn't otherwise! The other is an ethics class that seems like it might be kind of a drag.... we'll see!
That's all for my first week!
